Let’s continue with gemstones today.
A marvellous bespoke ring by Bezant caught my attention so I of course have to share I with you all.
Designer Laura Bezant has an interesting background which influences her designs. Her grandfather was a calligrapher and if you know her work, you know typography is really her thing. If words or characters aren’t engraved somewhere they are than a part of the ring its design just like this indicolite tourmaline ring which is made with a rose gold word script. Solid gold calligraphy like you’ve never seen it before.
The ring has been handmade from a softly brushed finish 18ct Rose Gold, whose arching lines curve around the centre stone, indicolite tourmaline, to form the word ‘Ayery’ – an old English word for air.
An Australian surfer came to Laura with a request for a ring that showed their first love – the Ocean. They wanted the piece to be formed from the word ‘Ayery’ with the letters spinning like a rip tide around the central stone. She sourced a deep, green-blue Indicolite Tourmaline that mirrored the color of deep water and worked and reworked the form a thousand times.
The script is first cut into gold, then wrapped around a rock. It is just perfect.
